Dr. Woodard serves as the Elizabeth E. Mallinckrodt Professor of Radiology and director of Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She also serves as head of the university’s Department of Radiology and is a professor of internal medicine, pediatrics and biomedical engineering.
Dr. Woodard was an early recipient of RSNA R&E Foundation funding and has been an NIH-funded clinician scientist as a PI or MPI for over two decades. She has served as a standing member on NIH study sections, most recently as a study section chair. Currently, Dr. Woodard is also program director on an NIH NIBIB T32 Clinician-Scientist Training grant to educate radiology residents and fellows in translational imaging research.
She contributes her time to many committees at WashU Medicine, including serving as chair of WashU Faculty Practice Plan and chair of the Clinical IT Governance Committee.
A prolific author, researcher and highly respected educator, Dr. Woodard has received numerous honors and awards throughout her career including the RSNA Outstanding Researcher Award in 2021. She has received a Distinguished Investigator Award from the Academy for Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Research, is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and a Fellow of the honorary engineering society, American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.
An active participant and revered leader in organized radiology, Dr. Woodard serves on the board of directors of the Society for Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. She is vice president in line for succession to president for the Academy of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Research, an advocacy group that lobbies for NIH funding and medical imaging research.
Dr. Woodard is past president of the North American Society for Cardiovascular Imaging and serves as president of the American College of Radiology.
This is Dr. Woodard’s second term with the Foundation Board of Trustees. In addition, Michael S. Gee, MD, PhD, was appointed treasurer and Lori L. Barr, MD, was appointed secretary. Phan T. Huynh, MD, and Matthew A. Mauro, MD, were reappointed for a second term. New trustees are Pina C. Sanelli, MD, MPH, and Mahmud Mossa-Basha, MD.
